Executive changes continue across the online trading sector as 2026 gets underway. Against the backdrop of several senior departures at UK broker IG Group (LON:IGG) in recent months, longtime IG leader Adam Blemings has now left the company.
Blemings spent almost two decades at IG. He joined in 2006 as a Futures Dealer. After a short period with IG Australia, he returned to London in 2012 as Deputy Head of Futures and FX. He took on the full Head of Futures and FX role in 2015, then moved into Head of Trading in 2019. Most recently, he served as Trading Director.
In a message shared on social media, Blemings said his time at IG ended as 2025 wrapped up, just shy of the 20-year mark. He thanked the people he worked with over the years, adding that many became friends, not just coworkers. He also said he’s leaving behind a strong Trading and Operations team that he expects will keep performing well.
Blemings also reflected on what he learned while serving as Trading Director. He pointed to the importance of followership, saying strong leadership creates the conditions for trust, purpose, respect, and empowerment, while strong followers choose to engage and support the direction set by a leader. He added that he hopes he earned the same level of support that his own managers inspired in him, and said he remains grateful for their guidance and trust.
For now, Blemings plans to take an extended break and see what 2026 brings. He also invited contacts to reach out later in the year to catch up over coffee, or something stronger.
