RBC Global Asset Management has appointed Ivan Pelipenko as senior trader, bringing more than 20 years of investment and trading experience to the firm's Toronto team.
Pelipenko will focus on global fixed income and foreign exchange in his new role. He will support a key area of RBC GAM's institutional trading business.
Before joining RBC GAM, Pelipenko spent more than 18 years with the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. During that time, he worked across emerging markets, fixed income, currencies, and global trading. He joined the pension fund in 2007 as a principal specializing in emerging markets fixed income and currencies.
He later became director of global trading for Total Fund Management, a role he held for about eight years. His background also includes portfolio management and trading strategies across institutional markets.
Pelipenko previously served on the Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee (CFEC). The committee supports communication between foreign exchange market participants and the Bank of Canada, while also reviewing FX market practices and procedures.
RBC Global Asset Management is the investment-management division of Royal Bank of Canada. The firm provides services to institutional investors, high-net-worth clients, and individual investors. According to its LinkedIn company profile, RBC GAM manages approximately $560 billion in assets worldwide.
Pelipenko's appointment adds to RBC GAM's expertise in fixed income and foreign exchange trading as the firm expands its institutional investment capabilities.
