ZX Capital Markets (ZXCM), a newer contracts for difference (CFD) broker launched in 2023, said gold drove most of its activity last year. The company reported that about 70% of its $100 billion annual trading volume came from gold. Interest in silver also surged, with silver trading demand up 300% in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Gold climbed around 60% to 65% in 2025. Silver jumped even more, rising roughly 140% to 150%, which put it among the top-performing major commodities for the year.
Finance Magnates Intelligence data shows metal CFDs made up over 60% of global broker volumes in the first half of 2025. Gold dominated that share at close to 80%, while silver represented about 18%. Other metals and commodities made up only a small slice.
ZXCM, led by industry veteran Hadi Zaarour, also offers crypto CFDs. The broker said crypto trading is heaviest outside regular market hours, and BTC was the most traded symbol.
Before starting ZXCM, Zaarour worked at several CFD firms, including Scope Markets and XGlobal Markets.
ZXCM said it onboarded about 3,000 clients last year, and 90% of them funded their accounts. The broker described its client base as spread across Asia, the MENA region, and Latin America, with trading flows coming from all three.
This year, ZXCM plans to push further into Asia and Latin America. It said onboarding is already picking up in those markets.
On the regulatory side, ZXCM currently operates under a Seychelles license and a St. Lucia registration. The broker has applied for a license in Cyprus and expects approval this year. It has also set up entities in the UK and Lebanon.
The Cyprus move stands out as some brokers have been reducing their focus there and shifting regulatory footprints elsewhere, including the UAE. FinanceMagnates.com previously reported that Squared Financial gave up its Cyprus license. BDSwiss took a similar route after first stopping retail onboarding, then returning its Cyprus license in 2024.
Other well-known brands tied to Cyprus, including Exness, FXTM, IronFX, and RoboMarkets, have also stopped onboarding retail CFD traders under their Cyprus license and have been concentrating more on offshore markets. Some still hold the Cyprus license, while others have handed it back.
