Binance has named Tarik Erk as Regional Head for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT). He will also serve as Senior Executive Officer for Abu Dhabi.
The hire supports Binance’s long-term plans in the region. It also follows the company’s recent announcement that its global operations are now regulated under Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), a step that signals a stronger focus on regulation and institutional work.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Erk has more than 10 years of experience across compliance, market growth, product rollouts, and government relations in digital assets and financial services. He entered the crypto sector in 2017 at Paxos in New York. Before that, he held roles at large banks including JPMorgan Chase and Commerzbank.
Erk joins Binance after six years at Crypto.com, where he was General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In that role, he led regional growth and expansion into regulated markets.
Although Erk hasn’t lived in Turkey, he is Turkish by background, and his role now formally includes the Turkish market. Turkey remains one of the most active crypto markets worldwide, driven by high adoption, strong trading volume, and heavy retail participation.
At Binance, Erk steps into a senior leadership post held by only a small number of regional heads globally. His Abu Dhabi position also places him close to Binance’s work with regulators and institutions, at a time when compliance and market structure are top priorities across the industry.
“I am proud to take on this exciting opportunity at Binance as the company continues to navigate evolving regulatory frameworks and strengthen its presence across the MENAT region,” said Erk. “I look forward to exploring new growth opportunities and helping shape the future of digital finance within the region and beyond.”
Erk has also been named among the most influential people in Singapore’s fintech scene by FinTech Nation. He previously served on the board of the Singapore Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Industry Association.
The appointment highlights Binance’s focus on regulatory engagement, institutional trust, and steady growth, as MENAT continues to play a bigger role in global crypto and digital finance.
