Saad Ahmed, who previously led Gemini's Asia-Pacific operations, has joined IG Group as Managing Director for APAC, according to an announcement on LinkedIn.
Ahmed's profile lists him in the Singapore-based position since May 2026. He joined IG after spending more than two years at cryptocurrency exchange Gemini as Head of Asia Pacific.
Ahmed said IG's investment in trading, investing, and crypto products across the region influenced his decision to join the company. He also emphasized the importance of adapting to local markets.
"Success here won't come from importing a global playbook. It comes from local insight, disciplined execution and trust you earn," Ahmed said.
During his time at Gemini, Ahmed managed the company's Asia-Pacific business, including regional profit and loss, regulatory expansion, and operations. His profile states that he established a 65-person headquarters in Singapore, reached regulatory milestones with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and launched licensed operations in Australia.
Before joining Gemini, Ahmed spent more than five years at Grab. His positions there included Managing Director for Merchants and Managing Director, Regional Head of Commercial.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Uber for four years in business development and strategic initiatives roles covering India and Southeast Asia.
